Randomness

Here is Sebastian and me on his blessing day. I love this picture because my parents came to his blessing. My dad was even able to bring him to the stand and sit up there while they blessed. One of the happiest days of my life!

Above: Sebastian wants to do and look exactly like his daddy, I love it.
Below: I love this picture for two reasons, one its the cutest picture taken of him. Two this was a very special day because my brother Benjamin came home from Iraq on this day and met his nephew for the first time. Sebastian and my brother share a special bond as Sebastian Benjamin was named after his uncle.

Not to much going on here in the Erickson household this week. The weather has been extremely crappy even for Ohio, so Sebastian and I have been confined to our cave all week. Although Wednesday the sun was out for a while and Sebastian was able to practice riding his bike. He is getting much better and can now peddle about 10 yards all by himself. Donald has Monday and Tuesday off next week so we plan on taking Sebastian ice skating. Which I'm sure will be real interesting considering I haven't ice skated in probably 5 years and Donald never has! I'm sure it will be fun and amusing for others to watch. I'm really excited for the summer, Sunday at church President Manhart asked me if I would go to girls camp and serve as assistant cook. I'm really excited, because when I joined the church I was 21 and have never had the chance to be involved with the young women's program until now. Donald's first year of school is winding down and to say its been challenging would be an understatement. Balancing a full time job, a full course load of school his church calling and his family has stretched him pretty thin and we are all looking forward to spending time together this summer. We plan on going to the Palmyra pageant again which is always fun. We plan on looking for a house this summer and if everything works as out we will also start the paper work rolling for our plans to adopt. This is an exciting yet scary time for us as we continue down this path. Many thoughts go through my mind hope, uncertainty's, insecurity and excitement. This has been a very trying 2 1/2 years. We continue to pray for a miracle but know that it is extremely unlikely we will conceive again on our own. A few weeks ago I was given a blessing and in it it said that the wait for us to bring another child into our family will soon come to an end. I have such a testimony of Priesthood Blessings and know that with Heavenly Father anything is possible. Needless to say we are extremely excited and look forward to this blessing being fulfilled. I am just so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who has just put His arms around me and has helped me through this whole ordeal. I know that He knows me personally, that he knows the wants and desires of my heart and that everything happens in His time. I think that has been what I have learned the most form this trail, that I am not in control and that things don't happen when Valgene says so. It has taken me a very long time to come to grasp with that but I get it, its in His time not mine! We are also so grateful for our family and friends who have been there for us, your love and support means everything to us! Wow this has turned into a marathon blog session so I'm going to stop and post a few of my favorite pictures that I have our family.

Can you find Sebastian?

Sebastian was in his bedroom today playing and this is what I walked into. Apparently he talked the boy who I babysit into barricading him. He's such a nerd!

Flashback

Wow I can't believe how big our little man has gotten! Here are some pictures of his first three Easters. We are so grateful for Sebastian and the sweet spirit that he brings to our home. It was not until we had Sebastian that I was able to come to a greater appreciation for the Atonement. I am so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who gave us his only begotten so we may some day return to live with Him. Happy Easter!

Eatable play dough, snowman, and teething!

Yesterday I was watching one of my favorite shows (Jon and Kate Plus 8) and they had a recipe for eatable play dough. I thought it would be fun to try and a good distraction for Sebastian who as just been miserable lately do to the fact that he is cutting teeth. Which shocked Donald and I since Sebastian has had all of his teeth for about a year and half now. I thought I was crazy at first. I went online and checked out teeth charts and sure enough it said that he shouldn't cut his next molars until 6 as they are called 6yr permanent molars. So I just figured hes cranky because he's tired or he's chewing on stuff because its a nervous habit. Well Sunday we were at our friends the Moore's for dinner and Sebastian was just extremely cranky and was crying a lot which he never does. So I decided to look in his mouth and sure enough theres a molar starting to break through. Poor kid he is just so miserable. Pray for us that the other three will pop through quickly!

He wasn't to sure about the edible play dough. And of course he wouldn't try it cause he's so picky! But i did and it was pretty good. Here's the recipe if anyone wants to try it. Equal parts peanut butter honey and powder milk (Sebastian is lactose intolerant so I found a recipe that substituted corn flour for the milk).

Look at that concentration, I helped a little bit.

Looks kinda of like Elvis!

Obsession

So this post is for our family out in AZ. For months we have been telling you about Sebastian's Geo Trax and how he is completely obsessed with them. So here are some video and pics of said favorite toy. Also a little side note these pics were taken last summer, his set has grown so large now that we had to move our dinning room table to the kitchen so he could play with it.

Back in the good ole says when it fit in his room!

Snow Part II

The snow storm has come and gone and left us about a foot and a half of winter fun. Here are some pictures of us at the park by our house.

Sebastian was such a trooper, the park is about 1/2 a mile from our house and he walked the whole way there in knee deep snow. To make matters worse the top 3-4 in were frozen and with almost every step he would break through it and fall. He would just say oops I falled and get back up and try it again.

Sebastian pouncing on daddy!

Finally we made it the playground and Sebastian was so excited. His favorite thing to do was go down the slide which was all iced up. It just flung him like a rag doll. We all had a lot of fun and it was so nice to get out of the house.
So cold but fun none the less!

Snow, snow and more snow!

By one o'clock we already have about 4 1/2 inches.

We are just so ready for the snow to go away already and have some warm weather. But since that is happening any time soon Sebastian and I decided to go out side and embrace it!

Something to think about!

Donald came across this quote by President Hinckley and asked me to post it on the Blog.
"We of this generation are the end harvest of those who have come before. It is not enough to be simply known as a member of the Church. A solemn obligation rests upon us, let us face it and work at it. We must live as true followers of the Christ. With charity towards all, returning good for evil. Teaching by example the ways of the Lord, and accomplishing the vast service he has outlined for us. Let us stand a little taller lift our eyes and stretch our minds to a greater understanding of the grand millennial mission of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. Some how among all who have walked the earth, we have been brought forth in this unique and remarkable season. Be grateful and above all be faithful!"

Uncle Ben and Bubbles!

Sebastian loves his Uncle Ben!

My brother was determend to get an arial shot of Sebastians face. It took a couple of trys but we finaly captured it.

Today my brother came over to play with Sebastian the highlight of his visit was when Uncle Ben decided to teach Sebastian how to blow bubbles. It was quit funny. I'm not sure who's haveing more fun, you be the judge.

Sebastian didn't understand how to pucker his lips so Uncle Ben decided to help him along!
